This woke up the mom so "mama called the doctor and the doctor said no more monkeys jumping on the bed". But the little monkeys didn't listen and kept jumping until they all bumped their heads. Artistic Medium: This book is done in colored pencil with a pastel color scheme. The colors are pastels so they are calming because this is a bedtime story. Style: The style of this book is bedtime cartoon with energetic coloring. The monkeys are getting ready for and getting into bed making this a bedtime story. It is also a cartoon because it shows monkeys in pajamas and the energetic coloring that don't doesn't always stay inside the lines it makes it a happy children's story. | Strong Vocabulary: The vocabulary in this text is very simple, much of that is do to the repetition of the "song" on every other page. Figurative Langauge: The singsong nature and rhyming would be the figurative language of this book of this book. "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed, then one fell off and bumped his head. Everything the words say the pictures show. Themes/Central Concepts: The central concept in this book is following directions. Each of the monkeys jump on the bed and end up getting hurt because they didn't listen to their mama. Uses for this book: As a child I loved reading this book because of the singsong nature and the repetitiveness. I felt like I was actually reading it. This book is almost like a nursery rhyme that way so it is perfect for young children (toddlers) to read along with their parents. |
